What is a fanlisting?

According to TFL.org, it's a place for fans of a subject to unite and build an international list.

In accordance with the disclaimer found on TFL.org's website, this fanlisting is for both the study of Caligula and the emperor himself.

The Emperor Caligula

Known as one of Rome's "mad emperors", his legacy is among the most notorious in history. Still, even though we are told some details by historians, much of what they wrote about him has been lost. And as a result, a fuller, more rounded portrait of his character may not ever be attained.

However, many modern biographers are trying to paint Caligula in a different light. While acknowledging his all too often irrational behavior and misdeeds, they are attempting to piece together the causes for it. Was it more than just a simple "brain fever"? Or was it also a mental breakdown, brought about by witnessing the murder of his family and years of abuse by his uncle Tiberius on Capri? Or, was it merely evil that always lurked within him? These are the things that make Caligula so interesting to me, and others who study him. We may never know truly why he was the way he was, but it is amazing to research and fun to speculate about.
