Background/History: -spoilers!-

Known as his people's greatest warrior, he was the first volunteer to search for the moon crystals in order to stop the Valuans. He apparently was close childhood friends with Fina, whom he cared for as a little sister. 

Soon after he left on his quest for the crystals, he was found by Valuan officials, and was taken in by Admiral Mendoza of the Armada. He spent a good deal of time with the kindly Admiral, and his ship's doctor, "Doc". He grew to greatly care for and respect the two men, particularly Mendoza, who saw him as a kind of son that he never had. Mendoza, who recognized his skills, praised him and gave him a post in the Armada.

All seemed well, Ramirez almost forgetting his original mission and allowing his correspondence with the Silvites to grow less and less frequent. However, the days grew darker for him and his surrogate home country. One night, a terrible accident ensued in the skies above Valua. Mendoza was killed, leaving Ramirez, Doc, and his own two daughters behind. It seems that Galcian then picked up Mendoza's post, and Ramirez became his Vice Captain. After a while, Ramirez curiously developed a hatred for the people of Valua; he watched them yearn after material items, gold, and high society, and grew disgusted with their very existence. This is the state that Vyse and the others encounter him in as the story progresses.
